I was the Canadian Distributor for HydroHeat which was purchased by AprilAire which is owned by Research Products which bought Econar and HydroHeat which renamed it all Geosystems. Bottom line in my opinion this is the worst ground source geothermal equipment on the market today. This company bankrupt us up here in Canada by constantly sending out inferior , untested equipment until our dealers and customers had enough. Our last customer was a large one. We had worked very hard for two years to secure a large district heating system. We had so many quality control issues it was sick. That is how Geosystems became involved with the client at our request to get their &%$ together. Well they did. They went behind our back and got the customer to buy direct even though we worked on this client and sold the equipment long before they even bought HydroHeat. This management of this company is corporate America at is finest. They have tunnel vision and are focused on nothing but the dollar not the customer. I could write a novel on the problems with this equipment. Do your self a favor if you are thinking of geothermal buy Waterfurnace, Climatemaster both have a good track record. Dont even consider Geosystems. I have this equipment in my own home and will be removing due to constant problems. The unit I have in my garage/guesthouse is not even etl/csa even thought it is labelled. |

Doesn't sound promising, does it? Econar is hardly on my radar compared to Hydro. It seemed to be in a different catagory (before anyway)..... as you say Curt, hmmmmmmmmm.

As of October 31st Econars doors will be closed. When Research Products moved their Monroeville, Pa. plant (Hydro Heat) to their Econar location, they did nothing more than lose.

Thank you for your opinion. I am not a disgruntled ex employee. I called it as I saw it. I'm not bitter with the company by any way shape or form. I simply found while employed there that the management lacked any priority for their customers. As far as the lushes statement goes, public (court) records revealed the data. http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/CaseDetail.aspx?CaseID=352343949

Hydro heat merged in with Econar, when the old owner (Del Overholser) sold Econar to Research Products Inc.. The plant (Econar) located in Appleton, MN is closing their doors. In my opinion it is unfortunate that they are closing their doors. However, it is none to shocking due to how it was operated after the merge. Plain and simple it is costing approx. 30 people their jobs. Over the last 2-3 years Econar dropped from 50 employees down to 30. No sooner did the merge take place, positions became less and less. The town of Appleton is very small (population 1400) and lacks any worth while jobs to begin with. In a nutshell yes hydro heat and Econar are both closing, though only under the name Econar. When Hydro heat was merged the company name Hydro heat was dropped.

All I can say about any of the "Invision" units: Many were shipped back to Econar for rework. The "Invision" units were the most complicated units made at the plant.

I do recall some reworks that had caught fire. Also I do know that several control boards were sent back to the plant, as they were faulty from the start. As far as control boards were concerned: The person that Econar ordered them from made them out of his garage. Where as most companies would order from an actual control board company not some guy in a garage. Some units that were on order had to be put on hold for weeks on end due to lack of control boards.
