Sorry for the long delay in response, I have not been on the net in a while busy with work. Rosalinda & Jamhassan I am Indianapolis, and I do not have a price per SQ foot as of yet. I guess I am trying to figure out if I could have built what I want cheaper then buying a home that already exist. I would like to have 1,300-1,800 sq feet. I have been searching the net for subterra homes and trying to figure out if I bought some land, and acre or so, and built on the land if it is even possible for a complete novice to do. If I have the structure in place, and had the plumbing and eletrical, heating and cooling, I could do the rest. The cosmetic stuff is not a problem. It would be the construction I would need to have done. We can buy a decent house for around 120,000, I am trying to figure out can I buy an acre of land, and build a safe cost effective home which is "green" for the same price. |

I built my house out of concrete block, stronger than haydit. The haydit are sufficient if filled every other cell and horizontal filled at 4' and top beam. Rebar is maybe over kill but cheap for peace of mind. A concrete burmed house is fairly cheap by my calculations. I am looking in to build for the public. Only the front is exposed to the elements. You can google concrete calculator and type in length, width, thickness and figure how much concrete x$100 and get cost. I build concrete walls with forms that stay with the wall and add strengthStructural steel roof with conpost for kite weight roof. Cheap and easy. Benn doing concrete for 30+ years |

Good information Afton I appreciate it. That sounds about like what we would like. Its a shame your in TX, I could use your expert advise on what to do. I have no idea where to start but I am slowly trying to figure it out. The Net is a great place for informaiton but can be just as confusing as everyone has their own ideas and opinions and or, use terms that just dont make any sense to a newbie. My wife and I have been trying to figure out what route to go, but may be in over our heads. The prices vary so much from person to person, you start to wonder is this guy trying to take me for money? Or is this guy so cheap because he isnt doing it right. |

Try not to rush in. I would like to have a chance at your business. I can travel. Need to have my engineer buddy check out and stamp my structural plans. |
