Couldn’t agree more ICFHybrid. You always need to carefully supervise your subs or you will end up in an ugly place. Lack of contractor basic oversight is the biggest cause of construction woes.

Have you considered growing grapes on a trellis on the south side? The people in Central Asia do this commonly. They are poor but not stupid, they get shade in summer and it is HOT (120F), table grapes, jam, jellies, in fall, wine in the late winter, and after a good pruning in Oct/Nov they get sunlight during the winter.
I'm just saying if you got it use it, it beats anything inorganic.

Yes, I understand it is nice to always have all your systems be automatic and work all the time, even for 81 yr olds. It just seems like that darn weather doesn't always cooperate with me. And those gutters and the leaves; my 82 yr old mother has not been able to cope with them for about 7 years now.
