I think the house was about 4500 sq.ft I only can tell you that the SIPs portion was $36K, including I-beam supports, crane and labor to set beams, labor and materials to set SIPs and since they were steel clad the soffit was already prefinished and we capped off fascia with a 24 ga. white /galv. steel cover
Central Florida is a short jaunt for us we are currently scheduled to provide SIP supply and installs in: St. Pete, FL, Mims, FL., St. Simons Island, GA., Bay St. Louis, MS., New Orleans, LA. and Supply only to Trinidad/Tabago |

The home is absolutely beautiful. How many Square Ft.? The roof is not as complex as ours will be, though very attractive and better suited for SIPs. Can you share with us the final cost of the project or at least the costs of the SIPs portion. We are located in North Central Florida, between Gainesville and Melrose.
DaveS
The SIPs roof ended twice as expensive as the truss, so we couldn't afford the SIPs in our budget and went truss with soy spray insulation. Darn! But I think we will still be happy with the results. |

For the folks who think SIPS roof are expensive (they are) the concrete roofs at $17 per square foot are MUCH more expensive. WOW.
If you don't want to pay for the additional structural capability of a SIPS roof, I didn't either, follow the advice several people gave to still at least use spray foam and trusses....not quite as strong but very energy efficient. |

Yup, that's the plan; trusses and soy spray foam insulation. I think we will be very happy with the results. We break ground in November and I will be posting pictures somewhere on this form. Thanks DaveS |

$17.00 sf being expensive depends on your needs and point of view. if you live near the coast, on an island, or in tornado alley, and a force 5 storm pays you a visit and blows your truss, sip or hand framed roof into the next county, its a bargain. if you want to seriously reduce outside noise from an airport, highway or factory it does the job better than wood frame structures. and we are not even going to mention lightning, fire, termites or mold. You are absolutely right. If I were on the coast, an island or tornado alley it would be at the top of my list, but I'm not and I can now afford other GREEN features I would have had to give up. But point took; always build for the environment you will be living in. If everyone did there wouldn't be the traffic jams leaving the shoreline, folks could stay safe in there homes or at least have a home left when they return.
