Planning new home build with Buildblock and exploring possibility of use the same for a 15mm lap pool What do you think of this product for the inside of the pool, www.armorpools.com. I have an email out to the company but no reply yet. Can't find anything on the web about how ICF pools have actually been built. Don't want to use gunite over the icf as that seems to defeat the purpose. |

Check with your local NUDURA Distributor. I have seen photos of pools made with those forms. Felix |

i've seen one site that does eps forms for pools. Look up insulated pool kits.com i think. I'm surprised pool builders havent gotten into efficient insulated pools in a big way. I guess they are all broke. |

TexasICF, those are great pictures. Did you build the pools? Any idea about the finish on the inside? The Armor Pool product came from the insulatedpool website as one of their liner options. Where are you located? We are building in Belton, TX.

Aircool -- 911 Porche? I did not build this pool. It's in France and i'm told it went together in record time. I am two hours north of Belton. I have a dvd/cd with about 100 or so photos of the chronology of the details of ICF pool construction down to how to do the skimmer and etc. etc. etc. When i locate it i'll send you a pm. Attached is a photo of an ICF waterall that i did. Now that they've added all the green plants around it it really looks pretty nice. |

No, not 911's, old 914's . If you can find that CD, I would really appreciate a copy. Thanks again for your input on my questions.

This is a great conversation thank you Texas ICF for having the answers. I would like to see the detail on covering the exposed foam. You could tile the whole thing probably pretty easily. Thanks again I am inspired
We did a large circle this summer for a yurt but could have been a pool just as easily. |

Yes, got the downloads without a problem. I've contacted a number of companies that advertise liners, EVM coatings, etc. and haven't had a response from a single one! Seems like the only missing detail is the best solution for the interior. I'll post something as soon as I get some information. |

I am in Central Texas and considering building a pool on my farm. I have a tractor, large skidsteer and dump trailer with some experience in plumbing and electrical work but minimal experience in concrete. I'm thinking of an above ground pool formed with ICF but again have run into the "what do I do on the interior" question. I don't want a liner, been there and done that. I looked at the www.armorpools.com site, looks promising but also awaiting email response. As with the gunnite the combo of ICF and armorcote seems a duplication of effort. I thought about peeling off the inner layer and plastering but it seems a waste. Any ideas would be welcome! Stephen |

Stephen,
Your nearest NUDURA dealer would be FutureStone in Fort Worth. www.futurestone.com FutureStone is a large, full-service distributor who should be able to answer your questions about pool construction. |

Well if I have enough money left over from my house project I'll be building a mostly in-ground pool with a strippable form so I can strip the foam off of the inside and paint it with this stuff: http://www.sscoatings.net/poolcoat-info.htm It's pricey, but probably considerably cheaper than a plaster job. yours/ peter. |

I am thinking of building a swimming hole at my own place in Minnesota. I will of course use some ICFs for the sides and therefore it is similar to a pool. One difference though is that with a swimming hole you need it warm enough in the winter to remain partly open, so that you can keep fish in it all winter. So do I insulate the bottom? I think if I did it would be warmer in the summer but would be colder in the winter. If I didn't insulate the bottom the geothermal would keep in warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer. What do ya'll think? |

First of all, I think a 15 millimeter pool may be a bit small But why not use a surface bonding cement applied directly to the foam for the inside? |
