Dick;

The product I am using at present best suits my needs for various reasons. I have used other OSB and steel panels in the past, but have found the need to switch due to: poor QC issues, poor customer service, poor lead times, etc., I have never switched for price, but am constantly keeping an open mind for the next best thing

Chris,

Those are all very valid reasons for picking a product. It just seems to me, that you are selling your product here by demonizing PU. That is the only issue that I take exception with. Polyurethanes are great products, as are polystyrenes. I happen to like XPS products more than EPS due to their higher R values and the fact that they can be manufactured with no VOCs (you can use CO2 as the blowing agent instead of pentane). I also would like to see someone try argon as a blowing agent, because the lower thermal transfer rate of argon might improve the R value even more.

In the future, you might want to temper your disdain for PU a bit, if for no other reason than that PU is integral to the manufacturing of your own SIPs as well.

Dick;

I thought this was an open forum for everyone's opinions and experiences.
I didn't start the discussion on PU vs. EPS but will be glad to put in my 2 cents worth when ever I can. I do not plan in censoring my thoughts. I call it as I see it. There are certain situations where is makes sense to use PU, it just doesn't occur in my world.
The PU vs. EPS has been dead for a while until you brought it up again.
When companies start serving coffee in PU cups, I will start to feel warm and fuzzy about those panels.

Chris,

I thought that you just told me that your panels use PU as adhesive??? How can you be so anti-polyurethane???

Dick;

I thought I explained my position clearly in the last post?
So either you like to be argumentative,
or you like to beat a dead horse,
or you like the last word.

If thats the case please leave the last word after my post and I'll move on to something constructive.

Chris,

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you angry. You do seem to be taking this way too personally, though.

I just wanted to point out that everytime you disparage polyurethane, your are also disparaging your own panels as well. And, this is an open forum where every opinion counts. I just happen to believe that everyone deserves the truth, and that is what I attempt to discuss. I also do like to have the last word, but apparently so do you.
