I'd call the modular factories closest to me and see if they have any recommendations. Likewise, I'd call local architects and see if they are willing to work with modular construction, and if so, which factory they would recommend. I've found that a lot of professionals have have their own preferences and/or pre-conceived notions about modular construction.
Where are you located? If you are in New England, I could make some suggestions. If outside New England, you'll have to go through the above process. Unfortunalty, unless you get lucky, it WILL be a process.
Hope this helps.

There is a company in Alberta, Canada that builds SIPs modulars, but I don't recall their name. Shipping costs and duty to AZ was cost prohibitive. Barvista in northern Colorado builds modulars using SIPs only in the gable ends (Premier SIPs) but not in the rest of the home. www.barvistahomes.com I think that it is an excellent idea, but it either amounts to a modular manufacturer adding SIPs production to his factory or partnering with a manufacturer who is nearby. |

As an exercise you sould check these guys out. They are located in Edmonton, AB and they offer EPS SIPs as an option. Ask them to send you pictures of the 2600 sq. ft. modular they have under construction, I have never seen anything like it. This modular is not a SIP modular, but it shows you what these guys are capable of.

Have you decided on what type of modular home you want and what region you will be serving.
I think I can give you a couple of sources. |

Hello Carol I am with Superior Home Technology in Orlando Florida. We have designed a SIP system. We use panels whether 4x8, 4x9, or 4x10 that is steel studs 16" on center with foam insulation R30 and Hardie Board on both sides. The exterior wall is the same as the interior walls. For the roof we use a 26 gauge double sided 6 inch foam SIPS. This gives you a R43 insulation factor. From there it is all finishing work. We would work with the subs to finish the home from electrical, hvac, plumbing, cabintry etc.... Goes up rather quickly... The Shell is Exterior Walls, Interior Walls, Attic Floor, and Roof... I hope this helps......You are usually looking at about 10% higher in cost compared to traditional.. email please for pics and more information. Please send me email address and I will send you a copy of our Evaluation and Validation Report by 2 Florida PE's who validate that our system meets and exceeds all Florida County building codes. They are also licensed in 26 other states. I will also send you pictures of completed projects and houses under construction. Thanks in advance [email protected] |

Do they you have a ICCES evaluation for 2006 IRC code compliance? Some officials require it for use as an alternative means and methods exception.
What is the foam most EPS foams are rated for 4.33 r value per inch.
