Lbear;
Is there a reason you are going to great lengths to achieve soundproof?
I talked to sound proofing engineers and they all stated that SIP roof panels are notorious for poor sound isolation and that they actually amplify sounds. They recommended that I install 2x3 wood furring and then install the hat channel and clips onto that. This will give me almost 3" of air space, which is what they recommend for low frequencies and mid to high frequencies.
I need to furr out the ceiling and so I figured why not attain soundproofing to avoid the potential of that "SIP pop" issue. Being that the area sees 40 degree temperature swings in less than 12 hours, and the monolithic type of structure that a steel SIP is, I don't want to have any sound issues coming from the steel SIP roof/ceiling.
What is the load rating for a steel SIP on the underside? What is the 26 gauge steel pullout strength in regards to screws? Is it more or less than 3 LBS per sq.ft.?
