PENSMORE
How do you build a modern 72,000 sq.' energy-efficient castle? ICF of course! :) See the NBC video. It's unbelievable! 30% bigger than the White House!

A repulsive monument to excess. It's pathetic that this man requires something so absurd to validate his existence. |

I agree. I thought a similar thing when I first saw it on tv a few months ago. Sustainable, efficient, and green? None of those belong in the same sentense as 72000 sqft. |

Hey, if the guy can afford it and it's what he wants, all the power to him. Personally if I could afford it I don't think I would want it, but hey to each their own.

He's one of those "job creators" the Rs like to talk about. He's going to have to employ at least a half dozen people just to maintain the place. Let's see, if it takes our house cleaner 4 hours to do general cleaning of about 2000 sq ft it'll take about 4 x 36 = 144 person hrs to clean his house, once a month. So he'll probably employ 2 to 4 housekeepers, a couple of gardeners, a couple of cooks, and maybe a chauffeur. Oh well, it's still excess living!

He is employing all those people and spending the money instead of leaving it in his bank acct. this is America we don't demonize the rich like the idiot OWS protesters. If you took that same money and gave it to the Govt. to spend creating jobs how many would they create in our industry? 1/4 in our sector and the rest in govt regulators and IRS Agents to oversea everyone and anything else they can steal will go to some bankrupt solar political contributor so they can give it back. Don't mean to synical but getting sick of people who demonize the people who hire me so I can hire my guys. |

I've got to agree with Hamptons ICF. Whether your an R or a D it's your money use it as you may. I've been out to the Hamptons several times and you should see the houses some of the D people have, pretty impressive. In another vain, is this the guy that owns TF system? |

Funny most of these big mansions I'm building are Dem's and outspoken liberal actors who are OWS supporters living in luxury, pretty hypocritical if you ask me. So just let everyone keep their own money and they wealth will be more efficiently spread around. He is the owner of TF I believe, not too familiar with this block. Have a good day everyone. Better than a non energy efficient castle.... and better than not using the money.

Better than a non energy efficient castle.... Heh, heh....exactly. This castle is a huge improvement over traditional masonry castles in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. Did I see radiant walls in the mix, there? In years past, radiant walls meant that the upstart young baron from across the moors was trying to burn you out with an eye towards your wife or worse, your beeves. |

Construction of Pensmore was suspended last September because of a sinkhole: http://www.faircitynews.com/2011/09/22/pensmore-mansion-swallowed-by-sinkhole/ Does anyone know if the construction has been restarted? |

Especially when he wanted the vertical TF forms redesigned. The new Transform wall forms have more than the usual amount of EPS foam on the exterior and a little bit of foam (3/4 inch) and a service chase on the interior. Reusable plastic pans and aluminum strongbacks are used to prevent the interior side from blowing out. |

As soon as someone says "indestructible" it invites such satire. Remember the Titanic.... Is there such a thing as indestructible? Mother nature has a way of making us eat such a word :o) -Rosalinda |
