We were able to lower the cost of rough plumbing and HVAC by having the subs come in when the building was just a plain sip shell. We had them put their pipes and ducts against the inside wall of the sip and then we boxed and padded around their pipes. The plumbers were out of the structure in record time and were wildly happy because they only had to drill three holes for the toilet flanges. I think that alone is a significant savings toward the cost of the entire project.

It goes back to the basics but the most cost savings can be realized by utilizing the larger 8' design module that SIPs offer at the design stage. The number of roof support members can be reduced . Waste can be kept to a minimum
