I'm having a problem matching finished floor height between 2 bathrooms with pex and the rest of the floor. Currently the whole floor on this level of the house is even. Now that we have installed pex, we are challenging with how to cover the pex prior to tiling. My finished floor outside the bathroom will be 1".

I was thinking about pouring 1" cement over the 5/8" PEX(about 1 1/8" cement), adding a 1/16" anti-fracturing membrane and finishing with 3/8" tile in 1/8" thinset base. This totals about 1 11/16" which will be approx 3/4" higher than the rest of the floor. Obviously, I will need to put a reducer between the different floors.

I thought about raising the height of the rest of the floor, however, my just ordered doors will become an issue.

Any thoughts?

Well, I'm not sure if the anti fracture membrane will be adequate or not from a structural point of view.. generally concrete guys want to see 1" of concrete over the top of the pipes, minimum. Not sure an isolation membrane will keep the concrete together there. It could, I'm not saying I know ;)

However, you have no need for 5/8" PEX.. try 3/8" and keep on centers tight (probably 6" o.c.) if you want to avoid heat striping. If this is a regular bathroom you probably still won't need more than one loop, two at most (keep the length to 200 or lower).
