My wife and I have been talking about using the various types of SIPS for our new house.  When I brought up the steel SIPS she objected based on the noise that metal siding makes when the temp. changes.  Are steel SIPS different and not make noise or is it still noisy?

I have a Gerard metal shingle roof (gal. steel shingles impregnated with stone to to look like regular shingles) on top of my steel sips so the roofing takes the brunt of temp changes so I don't hear anything in my up stairs where I I have 14 ft open gable roof.

I have lived in my cottage for 3 months and it has steel SIP walls with a steel SIP roof covered with a elastomatic paint, I've gone through summer and fall temperatures and I haven't heard the noise you mentioned.

Road Block;

First you need to change your name, it makes you sound objectionable.

But seriously your metal siding was probably aluminum which expands and contracts greater than steel. Aluminum is usually hollow behind it , unlike the steel skins that are laminated to a thick foam core.
Having built over 70 steel sips homes/buuildings expansion noise has not been an issue.
