I'm planning a large addition (in-law suite, master BR, sunroom). I already have a deep basement in my existing ranch, and right now I have two sump pumps working overtime, so I'm nervous about having more basement for the addition. I also might do radiant heat in portions of the addition. Slab sounds good, yes? But what's the benefit of a "raised slab" versus ordinary, or should I do a basement and risk water problems? I'm in Massachusetts.
