Hello,

I have a client with a commercial tax credit question.  I am well versed in the $1.80 sq.ft. tax credit for commerical buildings that meet the energy efficient guidelines as stated by the IRS.  The question is has anyone been successful in doing so and if they have what hoops did that have to jump through to accomplish this task.

Please advise and thanks.

we got the tax credit on a residential building. but at the time there were no residential LEED codes.

so we built to the commercial codes. the HER's score needs to be in the low 60 range to get the tax credit. our building had a HER's score of 62. :)  everything must be documented and 3rd party verified.

so it alot more than just meeting the codes or getting to the energy star level.
