Hello,
We've lost our San Diego house in recent California wild fire and thinking to rebuild it
using ICF technology to make it more fire proof.
We're planning to build about 3200 sq.ft. house (plus additional 700 sq.ft for garage).
What would be the cost of rebuiling our house using ICF in comparison to the traditional technologies?
Where the most expenses and savings are coming from.
Also, anyone knows ICF companies in San Diego area?

I did not find him as a nice guy. A lot of words, but no actions.
Still trying to find several ICF contractors in San Diego area or in vicinity, I can get a bid from.

| That is the most common question I am asked here in Minnesota. I have had a variety of customers break it down and in each case it added about 3.5% to the build cost. A $300,000 stick framed house would cost $310,500 for an all ICF house including the attached garage and common wall. |

One other thing, check into Composite ICFs, they are more fire resistant than standard ICFs. Combined with a stucco exterior and the right roofing it would make for a very fire resistant, energy efficient comfortable home.
Check out Cempo, Apex, Amazon Composite ICFs. |

they have their own installation team in california and will work with your general contractor as well.
I am also using him for my house in Santa Clarita Californina.
Call him you will not be disapointed.

I also contacted him but got no results except run around and waste of time.
Unfortunately he was referred to me by PolySteel which I was going to build my house with, however I assume if their distributor threat me like this I do not want to deal with Polysteel at all. Sorry to say that but that is the truth.

I live in a ICF house with basement/first floor/second floor equaling 3,420 sq. ft. being heated, and with a gas stove with polit lights. I hardly ever use the stove. From Mid March 2007 till present 3/12/08 I will have spent $1,200 dollars for heating March to March. $200. dollars went in the tank in Mid March of 2007, filled it up Nov. 25 th. with $500. dollars, Filled it again apx. the 3rd. week of Jan. I havn't checked the gauge lately but I'm sure it's low. Thats LP gas and I'm paying .30 cent more per gal. for the fuel because I use less than 500 gal. a year. now If I were paying $1.70 per gal instead of the $2.00 per gal my fuel bill could of been $1.050. The Therm. is set at 66 degree. I live out in the country with great views of ponds and woods so I dont have any curtains on the windows and just last summer I broke a patio door glass with the lawn mower so I lost the outside thermopane. I plan on putting this place on the market soon, other wise I'd invest in my own LP tank. That leasing a tank is for the birds. My next place will be a ICF earth home In Vilas Co. Wisconsin. I'm located just 30 miles south of Green Bay Wisconsin so the temps here get mighty darn cold.

| If ICFs are done correctly there would be no additional cost to stick framing. ICFs have many features that closes the cost gap. ICFs being hugely energy efficient cut the heating and cooling system in half vs. those being used in stick built homes, there are also federal rebated being offered for those building with high energy efficient building systems. ICFs are fast and easy to install and can save a lot of time, they also allow for a minimal sub contractor base. Everytime you stack an ICF block you form and insulate 5.33 sf of wall space, the forms also include studs to attach drywall and siding to. Contact Chad @ 877-356-3907 for any ICF information. |
