Posted By Richie-Rich on 07/14/2008 2:30 AM We are thinking about installing an outdoor wood boiler to reduce the cost of heating our 3,000 sf home. We presently heat with fuel oil which has become rather expensive. Do any of you have experience with outdoor wood boilers? If yes, what are the pros and cons to installing one? What is the name of your outdoor wood boiler and would you recommend it? Thanks for your help! Richie-Rich My little brother has a wood burning boiler in northern Minnesota. When he went to get a mortgage he had great difficulty finding a lender willing to make a loan because of the perceived fire danger.....just something to keep in mind for when you go to sell. You may see it as a benefit, others may not.
How close are you neighbors? How would the air quality be if all your neighbors decided to burn wood? How 'green' is wood smoke?
