How would you go about putting dormers on 2nd story of a sip house assuming I am using sips for roofs. Do dormers make it harder to have a energy tight home? Thanks!

No, it's done all of the time(OSB SIPS). If it can be stick framed, it can be done with OSB SIPS. Less efficient? Not than Stick framed.

....jc
If you're not building with OSB SIPS(or ICF's), why are you building?

It's done all the time with steel SIPs too, as shown below, the octagon roofs at each end of the front porch are also steel SIPs as well as the green colored panels used as beams

or how about a hip with 4 foot overhangs!

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have a link to drawings, pics or videos of a dormer going onto a sip house as it is under construction?

Thanks for sending those my way. The detail is perfect for what I needed. In this example there are panels about 23' tall with a window at bottom and one up at top for the dormer. Being new to sips I didn't know they could be that tall (would it be ok in OSB as well?)
