(I'm having a problem responding to other topics, so I'm responding with a new one) Mark, you mention you promote the use of HRV's with ICF's. I believe lifebreath has a Clean Air Furnace (runs off of hot water) with a built in HRV. The two used to be sold separately, but they finally combined them into one unit since they basically go hand in hand. Here in Michigan, I can get the unit (without ductwork) for about $1500. This seems very reasonable. Will the ductwork for the CAF work for the Hrv? It seems like it should, or does it need to be smaller? Man, this system seems so simple that it seems to good to be true!
Thanks again.........Larry

Larry:
I am very much a supporter of Nutech Products, we promote this line of products very strongly, because of the quality. They have a solid aluminum heat exchanger core which is second to none. In Canada, HRV systems are required by code, for a very good reason, they not only save on energy bills, but they prevent a build up of contaminated indoor air, and have proven thier effectiveness in preventing building decay, as well as providing an effective remedy to mold and mildew growth.

Larry:
I forgot to tell you, the HRV system is built into those units, you do not require any additional ductwork, other than two wall hoods for the intake and exhaust air, I know you poured your foundation, I hope you have them poured in the walls, for they are 6" diameter with an additional 1" all around for insulation. Do you have a balancing kit, or is there someone who will be installing the system for you? This is an important point.
