I will be building a home next year in Upsate New York and am considering using radiant floor heating. Since I truly dislike basements, for a variety of reasons (dark, damp, stinky...not to mention the cost for excavation and framing the first floor), I am strongly considering foregoing the typical basement and going with a slab on grade instead. For heat I am considering either a hydronic system or an in-slab air duct system. Has anyone ever heard of the Legalett in-slab air duct system? If so, I would like to hear some comments.

Thanks a bunch!

Too bad I never found this forum till now. I see your request was 2003 I have gone ahead with Legalett in a walk out basement. Radiant is great & Legalett is troubleproof with only heated air in the slab. Sold a similar system with 4 zone control last year & owner is happy also. Great for weekend reteats as the slab will keep building temp up for days without power
Will register & keep all informed
