I need to replace the floor in some rooms and thought it might be a good idea to upgrade the heating to underfloor radiant heat while I'm doing that, eliminating the radiators in those rooms.

Is it possible to connect the underfloor radiant heating to the same furnace that heats the radiators in the rest of the house? If so, would I need anything special to do this?

I found the answer to my question on this website:

Yes, I can connect radiant floor heat to the system that runs my radiators.

The water temps are generally different. Radiators can take a lot hotter water than floors/slabs. In fact, it generally has to. Heating a room with 5 square feet of radiator takes hotter water than heating the room with 100 sf of floor.

I just visited a house last weekend that had radiant floors down and a single small radiator in the upstairs bath. Because the bath was small, the same water (from a demand gas heater) could be used. The maximum temp was only about 120F, but that was plenty for a little bath with a little radiator. The energy efficiency of the house, and the mild climate, kept the house comfortable even though only the first floor had radiant floors. The owner felt that the little radiator in the bath was a luxury. A drafty house in a cold climate would require heat loss calculations.
