I am thinking about radiant heat to heat my basement. I want to put a subfloor down first, then hardwood floors. The subfloor would be two-by-four laid down then the floor then the hardwoods. I was thinking about running the radiant tubes in the subfloor cavities? Does any one have any input on this can it be done?

Does your basement leak?
If not, then what you propose is feasable.
A thin foil barrier under you subfloor would help tremendously.

Here's another interesting site that might give you some ideas.
