I am putting radiant in a large addition 󞦸sq ft]and am researching furnace brands and types. I would like opinions on brands to look at. It is hard to figure out cost justifications for different systems. I need less than 50k btu net, oil fired. Is outdoor reset worth it? how much will it add to final cost? How much more is a buderus or Viessmann install over a us model? If I burn 400 gallons more a year, what is my payback time? It looks to me that spending any more than $1000 more over a basic system is a waste of money. Arguments?

Input is appreciated

Well.....I am in Alaska. i might dissagree in a way....expensive is expensive buh Cheap is not cheap. .. consider maint. and oper.costs.....oil gas aint getting any cheaper.... so what you say we got plenty now. oki. personally id say the best money spent is in vapour barriers and insulation . max the insulation Up a bit. 2"in the (ground blue foam.) 10 " in the (ceiling Roof)r 26 walls. then we can begin with ...the advantages of installing well controlled heat plants and hydronic heating ... riello burners... injection pump systems ,taco tekmar erie controlls.the expensive can be made affordable with skill and utilization of the brain cell:)...
some guy pays hundreds a month for oil and has a nice cheap blast furnace running in the basement. yet i suggest the big picture of 1 year down the road... yah the insulation you stuck in saved you about all kinds of money and in winter you were more comfortable and in summer less baked ..buh hey. try next year...some how you seem to think you have a dollar,.. can Buy groceries...hmmm....oki so Now you say ...hmmm... please elaborate on the reasons a bit ..simple you paid a dollar once and the operational cost was minimal the maint cost was minmial. there is the crux of the argument. i do this for a living. and have been at it A WHile:) were i a liar cheat and thief long ago i'd been sent on my merry way.as it is people try to cross the great divide to get to me please please please come take alook at my new house plan do you have ANY time? well not really see i havent had a respite in Years. i work day and night sometimes twees day Too.*Tweezday The day we stick in between tues wed to get everything else done.there are a few out there in the community who work like me we have so much fun at this why not!:)))) thanks for listening. i dont give bids over the telephone. i do not live in your area or do i? what i am getting at is it is easier for people like me to cop a visual eyeball it as it were... you need to be a bit careful because there are a Bunch of variables in your equasion.
i can take a slant fin weil mclain whatever boiler and through the correct application of some wisdom lash up a very fine heating system...i can do viessman or buderas or a yamahondakawlasaki for that matter the point is where do you draw the line on Quality V.s extraneous gizmoes? and who the heck is gonna FIX this thing if it goes KabLooy!? hence the specialists:) we are harder to get than a dr. or dentist. and hey! we may not be long on the face of the earth.so....we make things as easy as we can to repair and limit disgrunteled home owners. is this answering your question?
