Hi All:

I am in the process of designing a radiant floor system for a home I am building in NW PA. I would like some suggestions on figuring out the heating loss calculation as well as the type of oil boiler and flexible tubing used. Your suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks

Joe

You can probably get heat loss calculations from the various suppliers of Radiant heat products. I did 2 installations. For the latest one I used an on demand water heater (LP) from Takagi. This is for the main hot water to the home and via a heat exchanger for the entire building. The building is a 2.5 car garage with a slab (I suggest 5 inch thick minimum)with a coachhouse/apartment above it. The foot print is 30 x 24 for a total of 1440 sq ft.
The various suppliers will suggest the best setup for you.

Maybe you want to think about Legalett -- only air in concrete floor with watercoil & fan . I installed two years ago & troublefree. You can run off household water heater. See their site www.legalett.ca
They are Canadian as I am also but the design is Swedish with 27 years of experience. Let me know what you Think?
