We had our Boise Cascade Home built in 1983. The radiant heat works fine, but the ceiling is cracking end to end every 2 feet perpendicular to the trusses. The construction is regular drywall attached to the trusses with nails every 12 inches. Radiant drywall panels 10 - 12 ft x 22" x 1/2" are set on the drywall between the trusses and wired into harnesses that go to the thermostats in each room, then there is approximately 6 - 8 inches of rockwool loose insulation on the top. In checking our attic, we found icicles on the inside of the roof in winter, and this moisture caused black mold in the back 12 x 14 ft area above the bathrooms where they vent thru the roof. In 1992 we had an addition added, reroofed the whole house with asphalt shingles and put in 2 large gable vents on each end of the house to improve ventilation. Our problem seems to be structural integrity of the drywall sagging away from the trusses and nails. Maybe due to the weight or drying out??
We need to find if this is a common problem, what the manufacturer's recommended repairs are and if there is any recourse.
I'm open to suggestion or any information which may be helpful.
