I have a 1100 sq ft one story rancher with gas hot air heat. I am planning a 400 sq ft family room and plan to put it on a concrete slab. It will be a family/sun room with the proper glass facing the south. I plan to use a wood stove for backup heat and am now wondering if I should install PEX tubing before pouring the concrete. I heard a standard water heater can be used to heat the slab. Is this normal or legal? Also heard some circulate water through a jacket on the wood stove then through the floor. I am new to radiant floor heating and plan to research the subject over the next few days and weeks. Appreciate if anyone can steer me in the right direction -

If you don't already have a hydronic system, I'm not sure you'd find hot water radiant to be economical for such a small area; perhaps electric cables would be better.
