I am putting a radiant system in my garage and I was planning on insulating the slab on all sides with 2" foam insulation (underneath and the 4" thickness of the slab on the sides). My only question is what do I do near the garage doors? Do you let the slab be poured all the way to the outside without insulation @ the doors or do you run the insulation 4" up along the entire front wall and have 2" of insulation showing right behind where the doors are? I am thinking that I don't want the heat loss to the outside but what would I do with a 2" thick pink strip running across my door opening?

Thanks,
Jason D.

Some people have been talking about doing a pressure treated threshold over the 2" foam strip to protect and mask it. However I don't know anyone who actually has done this yet; I do like the idea but am not sure of the construction issues it may or may not present.

Most people just let it bleed and keep the garage doors from freezing shut, as not ideal as that is.
