| web site that sells systems and they have been very helpful... It looks like I can fit 4 "Slinky Loops" in 2 4 ft wide trenches 250 ft. in lenght. This was one of the suggestions, since I have just under 2 acre here in northern Conn. And need a 4 ton system due to the 50,000+/- heat loss... Any help would be appreciated... I am open to having a local HVAC guy help with the hook up.... |

| In theory, anything can be DIY, but most folks won't attempt their own air-sourced HVAC system, never mind a geo system. Unless your "local HVAC guy / gal" has geo experience, he / she may well do more harm than good... |

| I'd at least have it engineered by a professional. Working with a set of prints makes a whole heck of alot of difference. This is a simple techology but that doesn't mean it's easy to install properly either. Imagine the cost of the system going sideways and then having to bring someone in to fix it, $$$$$$. |

Of course it could be done DIY. However, unless you want the results like others who've done DIY geo, please don't.
Just read through all of the geothermal forum here and find the posts that start out: "I installed my unit, and now it .....(fill in the blank).... can anyone help?"
It's very worth the money to pay those who know what they're doing to have it done right. Let them worry about warranty when the issues come up. Don't try to con an HVAC company into giving their services away, either. |

| I work with a comp in the litchfeild fairfeild west hartford areas . not many hvac comp have much or any exp with these systems but what we do is have a manufacture rep plan and drill the in ground work and we do the the typicall heat pump install they warrentee the pipes in the ground and the bid is entered as one or 2 numbers it has worked out very well.
