Has anyone used light-gage steel framing with exterior ICF walls?

Building Works is trying to catalogue “steel-to-ICF” connection details, if anyone has used those two systems together we would greatly appreciate his/her input on the matter. The publication will be a design/installation guide for steel-to-ICF connections and when completed will be distributed by HUD, PCA, NASFA, and ICFA. Currently there are no standard methods of connecting, furthermore every contractor or engineer is designing custom elements. The ultimate goal of this guide is to prepare generic connection details, so builders can easily use light-gage steel framing with ICFs and eventually replace all the wood in the house. Therefore, we are looking forward to speaking to ICF or steel contractors about their techniques of connecting the two systems.

If you have any relevant information, please place a message on this web site with your contact information or e-mail Ivan Panushev at ipanushev@buildingworks.com.

Ivan,
Here in West Central Ohio, there are two homes erected using concrete/steel and featured in the local newspaper. I have contacted the builder and the local ICF rep to ask for assistance in putting together some details for your catalog.. I will email them to your attn.

Ivan:

Call Amvic and speak to Paul Camozzi, he has a company with details for a steel floor framing system in ICF I believe.

Ivan-on this issue, there are numerous ways of "slaying this dragon". I would suppose it
depends on the specific aspect one wishes to
acheive. Mark is correct, however I would
suggest talking to Mr.Peter Kodeda our in house P.Eng.at Amvic. Simply tell him the nature of your question and I'm sure he will
be able to help you out. Hope this helps.
Take-care,Sincerely. Chris Kerr
