| Does anyone have a source to purchase the vinyl buck material? My form supplier whants $3.75 L.F. that seems steep for some vinyl and the buck section on this site has been under constrution for as long as i can remember |

Aaron, Contact Vinyl Technologies, Inc @ 1-(888)578-2825 or www.vbuck.com for a distributor in your area. Depending on the size of your forms, $3.25/Ft for the V-Buck is a pretty good price. There is a significant labor savings with the vinyl bucks which, in my experience, easily offsets the cost increase over wood bucks. Look at the TOTAL cost and factor in the improved appearance AND performance of the vinyl bucks (especially if you are using quality vinyl windows) and I think you'll find,like many quality ICF builders,that the vinyl door and window bucks are a great idea.

It would seem to me that vinyl would not be an ideal buck material due to its high expansion/contraction with temperature change. Has anyone found this to be a problem?

Dubm, I've been using vinyl window/door bucks for several years here in TX, usually with a good quality vinyl window, but also with wood framed doors and occasionally alum. windows. Just completed an install with Eagle wood windows & doors. Since the vinyl windows have the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the bucks, I haven't noticed any differential movement, but most of our windows are also trimmed out with EPS foam and EIFS. Possibly the EPS insulation factor mitigates the worst of the temp variations. In any case, I'm not aware of any problems related to the expansion of the vinyl (which I agree has a significant CoTE) and believe me, my customers would let me know. I'm also currently living in my 4th ICF home (Vinyl bucks & windows, wood & steel door frames). No problems here yet either. Also to consider, the EPS foam in most of our forms seems to move quite a bit with temp changes. Check out the pops & squeeks when the sun hits your forms first thing in the AM.
