I'm trying to find out information or techniques for installing base and other trims and moldings in ICF homes. I've read about "foaming" OSB or plywood sections into the walls to act as nailers before the drywall is put up. I'm planning on using Eco-Block for the project and this technique seems fine for the verticals but with a web every 8 inches on horizontal runs such as chair rail or base molding seems time consuming. An suggestions or references are much appreciated.

Thanks for the Information.
Also after looking at the Grapplers products it did dawn on me to add a 2 or 4 inch strip of OSB of plywood on 2 foot centers. I haven't received any pricing on Grapplers though and this looks like it would be more cost effective if you figure the time involved in cutting out the foam, cutting the OSB strips, and the foaming the OSB back into the cavity not to mention cutting into the foam is also cutting into your insulation.

Is there a problem with a little liquid nails on the back of the trim and using gun finish nails shot at angles into the ties? We typically attach trim on systems with ties at 8" centers every 16". Never had a callback to reattach trim.

I didn't think about using a bit of liquid nails and the finish nailer. Since I have 8 inch center webs with Eco-Block, this should work fine. Do you end up with pretty tight corners where the 2 trim pieces meet? I really appreciate the input.

If you build the walls square...the trim will be tight with no problems....if the corners are out of square then you will either use a lot of caulk or a lot of time making adjustments to the miter cuts.

Any decent trim carpenter will make any trim go around any angled corner neat, trim and tight.
If not correct on the first corner, I'd replace them with someone who can!

Badchad:
Ecoblock has a very sturdy tie, I would not hesitate to fasten with ringed finish nails directly to the ties. Some manufactures use a thinner plastic for the "stud" part of the tie, but your system has an excellent fastening strip which is very capable.
