Hello everyone i am new to this forum and i am currently getting my research done because i wanna build an ICF home w/ around 1600sq ft plus basement same size, also my father is building one around 5200sq ft right down the road and i cannot find any contractors that do ICF to give me a quote for it so we have decided to possibly do it ourselves however i cannot find any kinda pricing. so does anyone know a good estimate like per sq ft or any kinda estimate? also we are located in northern KY on the border of both OH and IN any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Take the training. Don't try it yourself. Do the finish work yourself, hire out the structure.

you don't want to rsik going it alone; nor does your dad.  We are an experienced manufacturer of a rigid insulation wall and roof panel system and have over 100 yrs. of collective staff experience in the building trades and manufacturing industies.

Do you have an architect involved with prints designed?  If so we possibly can help you both; contact us to discuss. 216-851-4641.

Matt:
Estimate by taking the length of the perimeter walls and multiply that by the height of the walls, including the floor system if you are going all the way up. Now you have the square foot of wall space. Back out the s/f of window and door openings. cut that amount by 1/2 to 1/3. Subtract that from the total s/f wall space and you have the s/f of forms needed to do the job with a little buffer for waste. Not too much now or we will have to change our motto, that we don't waste materials. Depending on where you are building and how much concrete is going for and how much rebar is this hour!!, you can estimate the job pretty close.

Dan Hudnall  I one of the best guys you would like to meet and work with. If I was you I would ask him for help with this and I am sure you could work out something.
It's not just stack and pour with icf's and you only get one chance to get it right.
The block you use is up to you , the wall being pin on and straight is best left to a pro (I have seen a lot of walls that have been built (DIY) that would not pass code)
They call in a pro after the concrete is hard and what can you do?
You don't want to be that guy. All the money (And time) that you think you would save buy doing it your self you can lose on rework.
I hope this will get you unstuck and out of the middle.

One build at a time.
