Hello, I am new to this board.
I have a small porch with 6 steps that I had replaced this summer. Since I had issues with Ice freezing up on the steps, I put in pex for future radiant heating system that I will be installing in my home in years to come. For now I would like to get snow melt system working and I am wondering if its possible to make a system work with
attaching a 3 speed pump to a 12-18kW electric on demand heater. (provided I use the system only when I am expecting snow/ice and filling the closed loop system with some kind of antifreeze solution)
I am wondering if this would work or this would require more powerful system.
I do not expect the heater to last extended period of time and do not want to invest in a more powerful or robust Gas heating system.
Pex for snowmelt is only below the 6 steps and steps are sitting on top of a generally warm space (60+ F) so the slab would not start off from being frozen. Total concrete and granite to heat is about 35-40 cubic feet with lower part of it being warm. |
