I am concerned my geothermal operating costs are to high. I have a 2000 sq ft ranch home with cathedral ceilings and an unfinished basement.  I built the home in summer of 2008 with efficiency in mind...  the exterior 2x4 walls were furred out to 2x6 with 2" polystyrene strips between the studs and the osb. We then insulated with 1200psi cellulose. The Daylight basement was wrapped in 4x8 sheets of 2" foam all the way down to the pea gravel. And the windows I chose are Strassburger out of Canada (.21 U rating).  ...My first winter electric bills were 250. then 335. I can only fear what the next one will bring as the past few weeks have been ice cold.  Does this seem normal? I was expecting less...

Money means little , What was the KWH idealy of the equip itself ,considering you dont have a baseline . your in Canada but where you heating degree days would also be usufull . Does you t-stat indicate use of aux if so how frequently

also on the KWH any other large loads in the home 80 inch plasma , hot tub going 24/7 outside stuff like that .

With out specific EWT/LWT GPM Watts eff cant be determined
how many tons is the system?

The first suspect is aux heat. If used much it will really jack up your bill
