You may want to have your DIP switches checked by someone qualified.

I checked the DIP switches on my split Envision unit this afternoon.  Found two settings I didn't like, asked the installer about them, and changed the settings with his blessings.  First, when the system ran in second stage, it stayed in second stage until the thermostat was satisfied, even if the thermostat reduced the call to first stage - changed.  Second, the system was not set to change stages on the fly even though our compressor has this capability - changed.  ALL power was turned off when I was in the cabinet.

In light of this, and one other person posting today about his DIP switch being incorrectly set regarding his open vs closed loop, I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention.  Some DIP Switch settings may be preferential, and others are either right or wrong.  I suggest people review their settings with their installer to confirm the system is operating the best possible way for your situation.

Maybe a DIP switch check should be added to the checklist that Ona posted.

As a qualified installer I would have checked those dip switches as part of the start up and commissioning of the unit.
They were not set correctly for an Envision 2 speed unit.
I think most of the problems on this form are caused by improper install/start up.
I can't help but wonder if this is price driven.

The installers finishing our install at 5:45pm on a Friday didn't help either.

One suggestion is to take a picture of the DIP switches - you can get all of them in one image.  Print this image and tape it on the unit.

You'll always have a permanent record of how the switches should be set, in case someone later decides to change something (i.e., a maintenance person who believe switch settings should be changed and you're not around to discuss, or changes intended to be temporary for troubleshooting purposes, but end up being forgotten about.

Best regards,

Bill

Good points, especially on troubleshooting changes. It can easily turn into one of those "permanently temporary" things.

The install is not finished until the start up and commissioning is done.
That's why God made Monday's.
