Last night was the first time I'd been able to log in here since servers were switched. I'm still unable to scroll to page two of a post or the forum in general. Anyone else having trouble or is it just my dial up fun?

No observed problems with us. We have a DSL connection.

Joe, the problem IS in your set...ya gotta get off that dialup

Should we start a get-Joe-Broadband-fundraiser?

Joe, I thought I was unable to get to the second page, as I was seeing what looked like a blank page. Turns out I had actually reached the second page, but was at the bottom and had to scroll up to top of page. I was seeing a vertical light yellow stripe on right side of screen. Dave

Not a lot of choices in the sticks here and all very expensive (>$700/yr). Much cheaper to live with dial up and carry my lap top to town when work demands a lengthy download.
For what it's worth the ttransition is far from seamless for my Blackberry.

Does your local phone company offer DSL at your location? If not, that would stink. Not as expensive as satellite.

Verizon wireless broadband works good for me in the middle of nowhere, to my surprise. Cell phones don't do well at my location. As Joe knows, wireless internet costs $60 a month for 5120 megabytes of data transfer.

I've had VZ wireless broadband for a year. It works okay for text, real bad for anything that has video such as YouTube. Also, very slow if the page is a heavy user of ASP or JavaScript. I bought a desktop antenna. It helped my dB rating by about 10%.

Joe,

When I travel to Northern Michigan (Boyne Area) I use my Blackberry as a modem connected to my laptop.  It works very well for a connection to the internet.  I can't type or read from my Blackberry, too damned small!  Verizon allows users to turn this modem function on and off as desired and only charges for days used.  Works for me, as always, your mileage may very!

I guess my main point was that I had no such trouble prior to this sites new server.

For those with Blackberry's there is a great program called tetherberry, which has a one time fee of aroudn $50.  With Verizon it works great as their 3g coverage is very extensive.  Definately worth it for those in the sticks that have cell phone coverage.

Had my Coffee out this morning and am not experiencing the same problems I have on dial up. I'm just curious as to why the new server doesn't seem to want to communicate with dial ins.
Not paying for high speed is a decision my wife and I have wrestled with before. With three teenage boys we've found plenty of other things to spend the money on.

Just noticed -
When I am on page 5 in a 5 page thread, and then log on while on the same page, I get logged in but placed on page 3 of the thread. Trying to navigate to page 5 by pressing the "5" at the bottom of the page doesn't always get me there.  This morning I had to press the ">>" button to get me back to the last page.

Anyway, I really like the feature where you can now log in and stay in the same thread instead of going to the home page.

Also, seems to be some trouble searching for users in Private Messaging.  Leaving the send to field blank (in Firefox) and clicking on the magnifying glass results in an error.  Typing in a letter gets some results, but the results don't necessarily begin with the letter that was typed.

I also noticed that you can't just click on a user and get their profile anymore.
I also have not been able to submit blogs from my Blackberry.

Sounds more and more like a caching or cookie issue
