The ductwork looks fine for a 3 ton unit.

The first couple of feet on both supply and return sides are to restrictive for 6 tons of Geo.

The plank floors upstairs look pretty cool. That heat pump sounds like a jet engine. My wife would not have allowed the installer out of the house our heat pump sounded like that.

Thanks for everyones input. I like the discription of the heat pump sounding like a jet engine. i hadn't used that one yet but will. Lets just say my wife is not happy and is not happy with the installer but couldn't wait for him to leave.
We had the local geocomfort rep in this week and he had some good ideas of reducing the noise with changes to the duct work. Most of these have been mentioned here including addiing insulation to dampen the noise and increasing the size of the duct work in the first 6-8 ft.
i am disappointed to find out I do not have the newest unit they make. i didn't really get an answer to why this is or if the newer model has a better fan.
Hopefully these suggestions work.
