in cooling, filter drier is upstream of TXV. This is not exclusive to CM or CM start up instructions.

BTW, dead compressor on a 5 ton WTW Bosch today. Installed this fall. I am not an ignorant installer, but I fail to believe any manufacturer has my back, I just make sure I have enough in the job to take care of my customer.
They have all dissappointed me, but I try not to disappoint my customers (because I know the warranty money will be inadequate).
I'm done thinking a particular brand is better because the all have bad runs.......
and back to the DX point, none will pay as much as WF, Bosch or CM to fix their snafus....they don't have the bank.
Lest we forget, there are no major furnace manufacturers without skeletons either.
You want no worries?- with complete disregard for cost heating your home? Get electric baseboard.

If you start the unit in cooling the filter drier is upstream of the TXV and I think that would catch any debris. I see a screen on both sides of the TXV and the problematic one in heating mode is between the TXV and filter drier located right at the outlet in the cold flash gas and FP 1 sensor location. You see I discovered this problem by cutting the TXV out with a mini hacksaw and sawed right thru the screen and then was able to see a thick waxy fibrous coating inside it and I got it to williams to use for evidence. The guy I was dealing with at williams criticized me for using a mini saw thinking im too stupid to blow it out with nitrogen and clean the tube with alcohol and rolled up rag. If you unsweat the TXV the screen is burned clean and you get a big fireball right there among the flammable insulation and wires. I think most all these TXVs are fine but the real problem is oil related or a degrading filter drier something the factory should be fixing not me.

Only put in 4 Bosch units and 2 were WTW and 2 were air. Both air ones had motor modules programmed wrong I got my 7th module today, that right 7 or the 4th one worked right on the 1st unit and if this latest is right number 3 for it. Bosch says they will cover my time for all this now at 15 hours. They say its a vendor issue. They are friendly and eager to please and quite the change from the climatemaster guy who was rude to me telling me to fill out the troubleshooting form even though I cant get the unit to run beyond 2 minutes and nothing stabilizes. Im not sure the screens even belong there as I know of no other equipment that has a screen after a TXV.

Dead as in shorted to ground? I have had them run but not pump and short to ground and I know this happened with a 80MFD cap reading 50 . The compressor will sound buzzy and erratic and L1 and L2 will have high amps and the wire from the cap low amp. I also had one that was loud at startup and shorted after one month and I used a cutting torch to open up the compressor to see what happened and a bushing on the eccentric ground away and metal chips fell into the armature. Bad caps are a big problem on 5 and 6 ton scroll units and im looking for an american made one to have on hand.

Check your dipswitches on that WTW as I found out if left in test mode and set to 4 retries that compressor will short cycle nonstop and never lockout. I mean 30 sec on 10sec off and it will do this until the compressor is ruined. Its a major defect in Bosches board see for yourself. The other unit I had the unit mounted controller so I dont have that board. Test mode on a bosch unlike all other equipment I know of if you forget to turn it off it will no revert to normal on its own.

Earthlinked technologies DX has paid me the largest material and labor claims yet and it was exactly what I asked for$ 8028.66 for 3 claims all at the same time and that was 3 leaking loops drilling and grouting, and a cracked pipe refrigerant and oil loss. They were very good as they too have allowances but they dont make sense like a standard allowance for leak repair. I said how can you have the same allowance for a 2 ton as a 6 ton and mine was a 6 and the allowance was about what materials were. They modified the allowance for me as I was right. very honorable they were but I am scared of more problems if I install another. Geo is expensive but this is crazy excavating and drilling in january to fix a refrigerant leak from defective brazing techniques now 100' down in the earth. In all 5 leaking loops out of 26 used and 2 I found before installing the others held 380 psi just fine until they get wet and then leaked. Flux was holding the pressure in and when softened by moisture they leaked. It was caused by brazing with too much pressure inside the loop at the factory. a simple mistake but with huge consequenses but they made it right by me but still hard to explain to a builder how a loop leaked and the replacement leaked as well.
