We have had nothing but problems with our Geo Thermal since we had it installed 2 years ago. We are always having them come out and work on it. It does not heat the whole house our last electric bill was 1300 and we wished we had put in 2 pellet stoves downstairs it would have been cheaper and gone with propane heat. Our whole house has energy star rated appliances and TV,s so why do we have a 1300 electric bill. Kids are at school all day we don't have the tv or lights on when they are gone so can anyone figure out this electric bill. The only other thing I can figure out is having solar panels put on the barn roof and having a couple home wind turbines. This is nuts a 1300 electric for a home sheesh we can't afford Geo Thermal at this rate !!!! |

Could be number of different things causing this problem.
More than likely your on emergency heat ( electric back up). |

Is there a question in there or are you just looking for sympathy? If you have a question in mind, please read the sticky thread at the top of this forum that states "Problem with your heat pump? Start here......." |

we can't afford Geo Thermal at this rate !!!! $1,300 a month doesn't seem proper, so if you follow arkies advice, above, maybe someone can get started figuring out what the problem might be. |

Lots of companies screw up geo installations, but often the repairs are fairly simple. Little we can do without more information however. |

Hi Dan,
If my husband was here he understands the Geo better than I do. But the problems we have had none stop with our is the control panel and other things that melted together they are always having to replace the mother board it does not heat the upstairs were having to use small electric heaters downstairs and upstairs because it is still cold in this house. We have new windows and doors in this house all energy star rated appliances and TV's, light fixtures we don't know what else to do for this problem. The last electric bill was 1300 this is just beyond belief for something that is suppose to save us money. Could you please advise what we can do.
Sincerely,
Gail Thompson

Gail, it would help if you could list the square footage of your house, what state you live in, the make and model of your geo, type of geo (water to water/ air to air), what you averaged for electric before the install. This forum and the people in it can help, but they will need a lot of information since they cannot "see" the unit and the install. Russ |

The control panel in the geo unit? Or like a zone control panel? Neither should melt. |

Neither should melt. Ha Ha. Well, not until after the warranty runs out, anyway. |

Gail go to http://www.greenbuildingtalk.com/Forums/tabid/53/aff/13/aft/76608/afv/topic/Default.aspx. Bring back the answers to as many questions as you can and we will try to help. We can do nothing without information. Pictures help too. |
