I have a Waterfurnace Series 7 with six zones. I can set the thermostat
for all six zones to 70F and the unit meets setpoint in all zones. If I
set half of the zones to 70F and the other half to 60F, it results in a
space temperature of about 65F in the zones set for 70F. Is there
anything I can do to the programming or setup parameters to resolve
this? |

I would think that in a house where the zones are "open" to each other having such a wide disparity in temperature would be hard to achieve. Usually zoning is used to achieve more consistent temperatures between zones, not more disparity. |

Right, unless you did something that actually enables thermally isolating your zoned heating areas (e.g, separate rooms having insulated walls and doors) the thermostats are more for getting uniformity and not disparity. If you are doing hydronic radiant floor heating, you might want to use EPS insulation to isolate the zoned heating area slab sections under the room walls too if you are needing large disparity. Of course, all this is something you would do during the construction planning phase and not after the building is done and you start installing HVAC. |

thanks for the replies. I guess my original thought of being able to isolate rooms not used, by closing the doors and lowering the set-point, was ill-conceived. Too bad, the ducts are sized to carry the load of any one or combination of any zones. I thought it might be a programming issue. |
