I have a 12 yr old hydro temp unit that has a seperate one ton and two ton compressor. It does forced air, infloor for basement and garage and DHW. I have two issues. The first is low pressure warnings. Had a service tech out to check for leaks. Found the service ports leaked and replaced. then charged system with 3.5lbs of r22. My total system capacity is 6.5lbs. on restart the low pressure warning came on agian. The tech jumped the low pressure switch and measured the following: Rest - Low 71 High 71 Stage 1 - Low 59 High 139 Stage 2 - Low 14 High 169 The second problem we noticied was sometimes when the stage two compresser kicked on the associated contactor chattered on/off really fast. We replaced the contactor and still had the same problem. At this point the service tech was at a loss of what to try next. What would explain the low side pressure drop of 14 in stage two? Also what would cause the contactor chatter. Are these two problems related or seperate issues? Any advice here is greatly appreciated. I am currently running on emergency electric coil 10 kw heat which is very costly.

Have you changed the thermostat lately? I had a thermostat cause this chattering on a system once. I don't know if I would worry about a little chatter, if it is continuous I would look into it.

I have had a tech call hydro temp while they were at the house to trouble shoot.

I dumped soo much money into repairing my HT unit that I gave up and replaced it after 6 yrs of use. So much for return on investment.

Same exact set up as you, got a heat pump water heater and disconnected the radiant. Put in a Water to Air Climatemaster, DIY'ed solar hot water for just the garage zone.

Some day I hope to afford a separate water to water unit.

Sorry I can't be of any help. The folks at HT were very helpful when the Tech's would call them.

I really hope you could get your separate water to water unit my friend. You definitely deserve it.
