First, I am in huge awe of the knowledge and expertise you have to understand and work with this equipment!
I am in St. Louis and have a 14 yo geothermal system with a gas furnace backup.
(it may also connect to some or all of: the solar panels, the air ex changer, the humidifier, the electronic air filter and the fans to run a system to heat the house with the fireplace.)
The system has had maintenance checks twice a year since it was installed and has been running fine.
Sometime around October this year, an alarm appeared for the outdoor sensor.
Batteries were changed. Alarm didn't clear. Newly purchased batteries were installed. Alarm still didn't clear.
For reasons I won't go into here, there was no further investigation until the third week of January.
Now:
1) the Sensor alarm will not reset, and was almost impossible to remove from the system
2) the geothermal turns on for a few seconds, then turns back off.
3) the refrigerant pressure measures low.
4) the electric board that connects the system (geothermal and gas system? and fans? dehumidifier? filter? air-ex changer? solar?) is malfunctioning
5) a modular system, the thermostat and heat downstairs are not functioning
6) a leak was located in the coil
How much of this could be related to the ignored sensor alarm?
Should I expect damage to everything else connected to the system?
Thanks for any and all thoughts on this!
