We are new to this forum and apologize but our questios basically fall under the residential heading.. 1) We are having issues with financing and finding a lender that allows owner builder and non-traditional building techniques. We thought we were good with financing then when ICF walls, earth shelter roof and optimum value engineering the brakes came on. Everyone loves the idea but they want traditional only.. 2) Does anyone have an earthshelter roof out there and can speak of the cost of upkeep? All the information out there says they will last longer than traditional and people we have contacted want a consultant fee to determine the cost benefit. We are builiding in a small canyon in Colorado Springs on a sloping piece of property and the earthshelter style of roof would really blend with the contour and foliage on the property. HELP!

Try Indy Mac, they are more flexible to these type of methods.

MidCountry Bank (Steve Nelson: 1-877-415-1020) specializes in owner/builder financing and he only deals with pre-engineered product companies. Although our systems consist of Structural Insulated Panels (and we also have steel systems) Steve works with different ICF companies & SIP companies alike.  If you were going with SIPs, I could forward you MidCountry's pre-app for financing, but if you are not, you will need to call him directly.
