I'm looking for a small energy efficient HRV to setup in a temporary installation in our apartment. I'll probably build up a box for it and run ducts to a window. We have horrible air quality and winter is coming, so I need a way to get fresh air without having windows open. I'll also need to filter the incoming air as we're near a road and have lots of neighbors who smoke.

Thanks for any info

First thing that comes to mind is the Panasonic bathroom fan ERV... how much do you want to spend? You should be able to hook something like this up temporarily.

Is your heat included in your rent, or do you pay your heat separate? If heat is included, I would open the window a little and maybe put some kind of air filter sealed/taped to the window and turn on the bathroom fans to draw fresh air in through the filter and exhaust the stale air out the bath fan.
I built my home with the help of Pierson-Gibbs Homes, "The Hands on House". They build the shell, you finish it.

The most efficient air/air heat exchangers in the world are Fine Wire heat exchangers http://www.viking-house.ie/fine-wire-hrv.html How do you get links to work on the forum?
Can you afford not to build a <A href="http://www.viking-house.ie">Passive House</A>? <a href="http://www.viking-house.co.uk">www.viking-house.co.uk</a>
