Installing V grove 1x8 pine on a 12/12 cathedral ceiling. It will be attached to the OSB sips panel whats the best way to get a secure attachment? Plan on using adhesive trying to avoid face nailing. Any thoughts? Thanks

What type splines do you have in the SIPS?
My first reaction would to screw furring strips to the SIPS, especially if you have some type of solid splines to screw into. Then I would blind nail the 1x to the furring strips. This will allow for better expansion/contraction of the 1xs. Gluing them will impede their movement, and could cause splitting and other unwanted affects. Also, don't forget to allow the wood to acclimate to its environment before installation.

The splines are foam with OSB caps too. I do ot have any dimensional lumber to attach to. Thanks for the idea.

Wes, why the furring strips, and not just nail to the OSB (assuming there is no electrical to run in the furring space)?

Jelly,
Furring strips are not necessarily needed. I just feel that screws hold better in the OSB than nails. The furring strips are screwed to the OSB and then the 1x can be blind nailed into the solid wood furring.

I still prefer to save a step and direct nail /glue to an unlimited solid wood surface rather than fur-down, if  Iwas to use furring I would still glue both strips and V groove
