I meant on the inside but on  the exterior walls. I was thinking of flashing with closed cell and filling the rest with cellulose.

Flash with closed-cell foam & fill with cellulose , but use wood, not metal, and run them laterally "Mooney-Wall" style to get the least thermal bridging (=best performance) out of the insulation.

Danna - where did you get that terminology "Mooney Wall?

Thanks - on another board on which I participated for many years there was a guy named Tim Mooney who I think popularized the construction method.  Or at least he somehow got his name on it.  I didn't know that the term was in common acceptance though.
