I have installed a geothermal waterpump about 1.5 years ago. It is 6 ton and my house went from 1500 sq ft to 3k sq feet. We added an addition and got a new system. Our heat and AC bills are around $4-600 / month. This seems high. I have called many HVAC companies to come out and take a peek at our set up, but no one will (about 12 HVAC companies). I had a thermal assessment done and they confirmed what I though all along.... insulation and poor duct work mostly.
My request is that someone come out and look at our duct work and make recommendations/ suggestions that will help with airflow and maximum cooling, but again no one wants to bother. I have been requesting this since Nov of 2010.
My ask is if anyone has any suggestion what to do or whom to call? I am out of options.
I live in St Louis, Missouri.
Thanks-

Did the person who did the "thermal assessment" have any specific recommendations?

What about the company who installed the system in the first place?

The Thermal company made several recommendations and we are working through that, but the 2 very pressing issues are the duct work being inadequate and the insulation in the upper level being very poor. I have had a insulation company out and they are ready to roll, but I need to get the duct work needs to be taken care of first.
As for the existing company, they were in business for 30 years and after our installation went out of business.

Thanks for asking and I hope this helps.

Regards-

Greetings,
I'm about 20 miles from you, Troy, il.

No one wants to help because they believe they will become responsible for any existing or future problems.

Sometimes, if you beg hard enough, a rep from the unit manufacturer will evaluate your situation and make recommendations.  You can then contract with some one to do "specific" repairs.

Part of your problem is that you probably have FG or cellulose insul'n.  You can up grade with radiant barriers and reduce the ac $ up to 50% or more.  I would be willing to take a look at the insulation problem for you and make recommendations.  I do not install.

If your considering adding more bulk insulation to the existing then you will be wasting your money.

6 tons seems like a lot of heat pump for that house. That's a lot of duct requirement (420+ inches of return air).
You should get a proper design after envelope improvements.
You might want to try the geo forums for help as well.
