Hey guys I need your expertise. I have a single story pier and beam home in northwest Louisiana. The floors stay cold all winter and even though the room temp is 68-70 the cold floors make it uncomfortable. I want to insulate the floors. Access is relatively easy. I want to rip polyiso board to fit between floor joists, and foam (Great Stuff) in place. My questions are 1. Is this the best type of insulation to use, keeping in mind efficiency vs. affordability (home is 2200 sq ft. 2. Foil faced foam or not. If not is any type moisture barrier needed. I was considering using a foil face. 3. If foil faced is the way to go should foil be facing floor boards or away. 4. Should foam be pushed up tight against floor. I had thought I would install with foil facing away from floor and pushed into cavity so that foam was flush with bottom of floor joist and then taping the joints. This would leave about a 4 inch air space between foam and floor. 5. Is 3" of foam adequate. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I guess what I am really asking is how would you do it.

Consider attaching non-faced EPS foam and then taped ZIP sheathing underneath the joists. Add some cellulose within the joist spaces as you go.
