Curious if I have this right. Please see detail I mocked up at link below
Tyvek would go between the blue furring strip and green insulation, right?
In order to seal the window in, though, I assume I would caulk the heck out of the furring strip/Tyvek interface? How would I best do this?
I assume I would caulk the windowflange and tape it as well?
Any particular caulk I should use that won't dry out over time?

***In order to seal the window in, though, I assume I would caulk the heck out of the furring strip/Tyvek interface? How would I best do this?*** I would use another strip of tyvek over top of the nail flange/ furring strip and tape it to the nailing flange and the original tyvek. |

At the top I was planning to do that, I suppose I can do it all around but since the furring sits higher the corners will be tricky. Anyone else have any more input? |

What if i cut the "X" in the tyvek, then furred it out, and folded the X pieces backinothe opening over the furring, and taped the edges? I am mostly concerned with the top of the indow, as water runs own the tyvek. I feel taping might not hold here and wter can eventually work under he tape. How do you guys do this? Did anyone look at my detail? |

Surf - if you don't want to rely on tape, cut the original house wrap about 2" above the wind and the width of the window. Then take a six inch wide strip and slide it UNDER the original and over the nailing flange. You can then tape the joint for air seal but because the two pieces overlap in the right direction, water won't penetrate the joint. The only suspects will be the two corners of the joints. |

FBBP yea I thought of that this morning too, to have it shed down another piece slid under but taped over the furring to the nail flange. I can also do this after the framers install the windows. So it'll happen like this. Framers frame the house. While they frame, i install 1-1/2 inch XPS Framers wrap house. I furr out the windows doors Windows arrive and framers install them I come in after and cut the tyvek a few inches above the top furring strip and slide under another piece of tyvek and tape it over the furring strip and nailing flange Anyone think of any issues with this? |

Here's what we're doing. They frame, sheathe, then we install the foam while the wall is down and tack the Tyvek. Put a few extra cap nails in there to hold the Tyvek, then stand up the wall. Seems to be working well so far - just did first floor deck and one wall so far. I put the foam on the rim board everywhere. When I attach furring strips, any need for liquid nails between the furring strip and the tyvek? I assume no. |
