I would like to remake the islet of my kitchen and I hesitate a lot between the different options of surfaces of counters which are offered to me. What would you advise me? Marble? Wood? Laminate? I saw that high pressure laminate was long-lasting and was manufactured using a rigorous process that ensured a minimum of carbon capture. What do you think?

You don’t want to use marble for kitchen counters as the material is too soft for that application, but it is great for bathrooms and window sills. Granite would be the right choice for kitchen counters if you prefer the natural stone look which is my personal preference all things considered. Lots of folks also like quartz (manufactured with about 95% ground quartz and 5% polymer resin) because you don’t have to keep sealing it like you have to do with natural granite because it is porous. Granite handles hot pots better than quartz which can discolor. These days, laminate looks quite good too and costs way less than either granite or quartz. Wood counters look very nice, but likely require a lot of maintenance. So this is a pretty subjective subject which is affected by how you will actually use your kitchen counters and how much time you want to spend on them to keep them looking pretty.

There also concrete countertop options as well. But, like granite, you need to seal it.
