Heating radiators in our highrise building are mounted inside metal enclosures, and the pipes hooked to heating pipe raisers inside the wall. Some smell is constantly coming from heating raiser compartments, and also bugs. Is there a way to air proof the entire radiator enclosure without dismounting the radiators and shutting down the heat? I mean not only the opening into heating raiser, but also all around the enclosure, which is attached to the room wall and rests on parquet floor with numerous air leaks all around it. Heating radiators are mounted on support brackets attached by screws to the enclosure. We tried to seal the enclosure somehow, but it still leaks smell everywhere around it. Would spray foam insulation be a suitable method in this case, and how to do it without removing the radiator? Or what is the best method to air tight it - may be oil paint, cement, some sealant, etc?
